Girls Soccer pulls out late WWednesday, September 21, 2016
NEWINGTON — With time winding down Zoe Walk took the shot. It hit the back of the net with just 30 seconds remaining on the clock, proving to be the difference maker for the Newington girls soccer team. Down a goal at the half, the Indians responded with three second-half goals to top Avon 3-2 Tuesday afternoon to earn their second straight win. Madison Lewicki and Amanda Kapuscinski got the comeback started with a goal each. Emmy Petronio, Maggie Callahan and Skylar Couillard each had an assist. Newington also got strong play from its goalkeeper, Jenna Scanlon, who came away with 13 saves. The Indians are now 2-1.
